Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel, and jazz into his distinctive style. Avery Sunshine's work has led her from Broadway to European festivals and clubs and even to her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has the name Denise White. While she now lives in Atlanta the place she was raised is Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical journey began in the church, where she sang as well as played piano. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical instruction began with Atlanta's R&B Scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan It has been remixed since by many producers and remains the mainstay of her live sets. The Fighting Temptations was the second soundtrack that she sang on. The band was hired as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the choral leader for the stage production. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was then invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
